Engine: L96 (LS) and LS-1
Transmission: auto, 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.42 gears for both
Converting rear to disc from drum
How many parts am i going to have to change to convert from rear drums to disc?

Do you have 3 or 4 bolts in the backing plates? If you have 4 bolts then all you need is a complete disc brake set from another rear end. If you have 3 bolts in the backing plates then you are going to need to do some modifications to the housing ends.

So i wont need a new brake proportioning valve or anything like that? Ive done the brakes and im sure its a 4 bolt unit.

You will probably need the proportioning valve. I don't know much about that part. I just know that the housing ends are not all the same. The disc brake rear ends and later drum rear ends use the 4 bolt flange and the early drum rear ends use the 3 bolt flange.

By the way, chevman or big gear, note the drum flange (from a 91 'Bird) in the following link (I haven't seen all drum brake rears, but the one in the link is the only one I'm familiar with):
