There's only one trans mount that fits these cars (or any other GM RWD cars from the last 25 years or so), so it about has to be the right one. It looks about like a small brick about 6" x 2" x 1½" with an ear on one surface at each end with a slot, and one stud or one bolt hole in the opposite surface.

that is exactally the kind i had bought to put on, but it would not fit. the one that is on there is a big round one it looks like two peiceshed together by a rubber mount between them. one end mounts to the tranny and the other end bolts through the cross memeber from the bottom. ???? only thing i can think of is the guy i bought the car from changed the transmission and put a different kind in there and changed the cross member. thats why i was tring to find out how to tell, if possible, what kind of tranny it is by some numbers or something.

Maybe this thread from the V6 page will help you out: https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/001612.html

Man, we need a tech article on this ("Is the auto trans mount = manual trans mount?") !!

to answer the question no they are NOT the same. The manual mount is totally different. I have the 5 speed as well and I will say that the V6's and the V8's have the same gearbox different bell housings. Anyway last year when my mount went out I searched...and searched and even searched some more and eeventually had to go to the dealer to get it... not cheap 156 bucks!

I will describe how mine looks. the crossmember bolts are close to 2 inches behind the bolts to the gear box right?...on yours I mean. They are on mine and I can't get an auto mount to fit. I had to go to a local welder and have him weld up a new crossmember.. BTW is was 40 bucks...
