rear ends: Confused 18 year old
Know I'm not talking about women.
I have a 2.73 peg leg right now, and it has to go. I was thinking Zexel posi, the description said it was made for cars with 28 spline axles, which I think I have, but my real question is Do I have to buy a 3 series carrier or is the Zexel the carrier itself.
by the way I will have 3.42s installed at the same time.

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
The torsen diff is the actual carrier itself and is a series 3. Buy the gears for a series 3 carrier and install. Your 91 will have 28 spline axles.

how much do you think it would cost to have them istalled, if I buy a installion kit from SLP?
To tell you the truth I'm afraid of messing with the axle, even though I do all my other work by myself: Battery, Starter, plugs, wires, power window motor, open element, and cat back.

The Zexel is the 3 series carrier. So your 3.42's will be fine. Rear ends are easy if you do it "by the book". If you take short cuts and half a$$ it, you will ruin parts.
