B&M Shift Improver Kit
B&M Shift Improver Kit
I read in the Jegs catalog that you can flip on and off the setting? Whats up with this? Would this be groovy or what? I know there has got to be some sort of downside to this...
Also, would a tranny cooler be recommended with a 4 speed auto daily driver?

dont go with B&M go with trans go. the B&M puts your tranny line pressures way up and it makes it shift hard all the time, that is not what you want. you want it to shift hard when you need it to, transgo patented the shift kit and they know what they are talking about. go with transgo. more expensive but you get what you pay for.
and my friend put a B&M in his 92 rs and 4 days later paid $1000 to get his trans rebuilt, so do what you want.

There's no way to flip the B&M kit "on or off"; you're probably talking about the B&M Shift Plus, which is different than the B&M Shift Improver Kit. The Shift+ is for electronic 4L60E's (93-up f-bodies), since those trannys control TV pressure electronically, the Shift+ uses electricity to change your line pressure. A shift kit does it the real way.
I have the B&M Shift Improver Kit... it doesn't shift hard all the time. I only feel the shifts when I get on the pedal... normal "easy" driving won't give me a harder shift.
Don't get the B&M Transpak for our cars. FastBroker found out that the only difference between the B&M Shift Improver Kit and Transpak for our 700r4's is you get a filter with the Transpak.
YES, get a tranny cooler. 700r4's run hotter than other transmissions, which is why they need yearly fluid changes. (It's not the mileage that kills the fluid, it's the heat.) I run the B&M Supercooler on my car, as well as a remote trans filter.

B&M Transpaks suck. It's not very practical for street driving, I really should change my signiture seeing that I took that wretched piece of crap out. Now it has a Corvette Servo, which shifts plenty hard for me. It only cost me 30 bucks too. I have a B&M supercooler and it made a real big difference in heat in my tranny. For the stock tranny go with the Vette Servo or a TransGo those things are awesome, but I would rather spend (over) 100 bucks on something else, like saving up for Nitrous.
