My friend keeps beating me help!!

Right now I have a stock 91 Camaro 305, 5 speed with 3.08 rear end ratio no posi. My friend has a 89 Camaro 305, 5 speed and 3.08 rear end ratio but he has posi. His is bone stock too but he always seems to be able to beat me of the line and all the way for that matter. What is the easiest and cheapest eay to add posi. and what rear end ratio should I get 3.27 or 3.42 or just stay with 3.08 Please tell me what are prices and where to get the stuff if you recomend something. Thanks all.

OEM take-off posi from SLP. $79 - $99 depending on if you catch them during a special.

Powertrax is supposedly the easiest to install, but at $400?

Well, one other explanation I could give is....he could have shorter tires than you, that would give him a smaller final effective ratio, and better take off. Is his car what? What do you have? 305 what? I agree the SLP is really awesome, I like it better than my former Auburn set. You could just have a tired engine, or tall tires. You would be surprised in how much a difference in tire profiles can do for your acceleration, I know someone that put 2 profile sizes lower on his 79 s-l-a-n-t 6 Volare wagon, and the acceleration was very excellent. He took a 93 Cutlass Convertable and he wasn't even trying to race! His speedo was off about 10 miles per hour though.

Do some of the free mods like advancing your timing a few degrees.Do u have TB or TPI? Your first "purchased"mod should be your exhaust system & a good air K&N air filter. U will definitly like the seat of the pants feel!

Word of advice....... get auburn posi about 350 dollars.. and a set of 3.73 gears..and rememeber you can take 2 tenths off for free!!! its called wieght.. seats,carpeting,plastic panels.

get a posi and improve your traction.. also get a k+N and do some exhaust work ..
