T.v cable

When adjusting the t.v cable according to transleo's way do i take the t.v cable off the the throttle and then let it go back till it hits the area where it comes out. then release the detent thing and put the t.v cable back on the thorttle then open it to wot. I had my wife sit in the car and floor it and the pressed in the d button and then there wasn't any slack in the cable so i let the d button go and it shifts easier then it did before i had the trans go put in.

I just went and tried it again and its not really the cable that you worry about you have to pull the nipple thing that the cable comes out of or push it it in all the way then when you open the throttle to wot the nipple will click out some. When i pushed int he d button before the nipple thing came all the way out thatss why it was shifting soft.

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal floored, press the D button and pull the cable back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.

The whole purpose is to A) Make sure that the actual throttle is going WOT (often they don't) and B) To get the Tranny to WOT too and C) to NOT use the GM method since it bends things and really isn't reliable.

You leave the TV Cable end attached at all times, you just take tension off if it first. When I say to pull the cable back I should probably say move the cable casing (the black tube) back all of the way untill it won't go further and release the lock.

Heheh, yeah, when I did a 2.8/2.8 swap for a friend, one of the last things I did was reset his TV cable. I did it the GM way, and as I pulled the linkage towards WOT, the plastic clip that holds the TV cable end to the linkage snapped in half!
