i'm about to place a zexel torsen diff in a 95 rearend that is going into my 82z, it is an open diff 3.42 rear. I would like to know how to set the backlash on the gearset, Is it the back and forth movement in the case??? or do i even need to set the backlash, i am just switching the diff carrier that is all, i am using the same gears and am not taking out the pinion. please help

 

You need to swap carrier shims from side to side to move the ring gear further or closer to the pinion. Check this out: 10 bolt
