Inspecting junkyard transmissions
I will be scouring my local junkyard for a decent T5 transmission this weekend. Never having opened a transmission case i was hoping for some direction. What should i be looking for? Is synco wear visible? What are some telltale signs the transmission is on its way out?

Re: Inspecting junkyard transmissions
Synchro wear isn't visible, and getting the top panel of a T5 off in a junkyard would be a feat in-itself.
Depending on what you have access to in the junkyard, the best you can hope for is to check if each gear can be engaged by the shifter, and possibly if the input/output shafts are seized, and maybe if no gears are stripped by turning the input in each gear, and holding the output for a full turn to feel it's resistance.
