Re: 82-83 zbar
Pristine. Brand new. Gold plated. Bought it last week....
It's stock from 1982. Probably has 100,000 miles on it. No cracks or anything, but it's dirty and greasy.
This is the third person that's been desperate for a z-bar, then when I ask to be paid for it, they suddenly don't need one anymore... I'm not sure how this system works. Either you need one, or you don't. If yours is broken or missing, then you need one - right?
I'll be honest, i'm not trying to sell this z-bar. This isn't going to put me in Trumps manor here. It's collecting dust. But i'd only sell it if I can re-coupe the cost of shipping it out, and driving it to the post office.
The alternative is to upgrade to a hydraulic throw out assembly. I did this. It cost me about $300 to do that, along with about 20hrs of fabrication time. There's a good chance you're a smarter cookie then I am, and can figure it out quicker, but that's how long it took ME. (mechanical engineer - but not that bright...)
Or you can buy a stock hydraulic setup. Would need the right bellhousing (if you can even go that route, ie need a T5, not a T10 like I have...), and the stock hydraulics. This would be around $300-$400 as well, when the smoke clears.
So when I offer up my Z-bar for $30 (keep in mind GM would probably charge about $200 if they even had one...), plus ACTUAL shipping cost, ie what the post office would charge me, ~$35 (Canada to USA), $65 USD seems pretty pricey... I'm not sure why that is... $65 is CHEAP from where i'm sitting, but everyone seems to think these unbelievably rare parts are going to land in there lap for less than $40 or something...
Not to insult you Prince, it just seems like i'm wasting my breath trying to give these parts away...

For more information, do a search on z-bar, and my name.

Re: 82-83 zbar
I know I took a few pictures of this before, maybe I have those at home... Try searching on the forum and whatnot...
Here is a thread I started when trying to figure this out
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fabr...g-linkage.html
I found the bell linkage to be the best way to keep everything straight and in line.
I'll try to find the pictures I took of the actual setup. The master cylinder extension rod was tricky. It was a piece of aluminum hex tubing from an online linkage website (mid west control I think), internally threaded to fit the MC. The other side I put a clevis end on it.

Re: 82-83 zbar
paypal me.
i'll pm you details (my email address)
It's in an 8" box, and weighs about 6 lbs. I'm at T2J 0A8 Canada. Go to DHL/Fedex/UPS/Purolator and punch in the weight and dims and my postal code and your zip code.
PS - go to the canada version of the website, so the pricing is accurate. Find the level of service you want, the carrier you want, and paypal me that, plus $30 and i'll drop it in the mail as soon as I can (busy tonight, sat if they are open).

Re: 82-83 zbar
Sorry guy, the package grew. It was closer to 12x12x4" or so, and about 5lbs. I shipped it today, via UPS expedited. It is guaranteed to arrive there on wednesday end of business.
Tracking # is
1Z24R W08 67 3690 1931
Let me know when you get it.
PS - I ran out of packing peanuts, so I 'gifted' to you my ugliest towel that a roommate left for me. haha, your problem now.

Re: 82-83 zbar
Sorry for the fact it was dirtier than sin, but I kinda rushed it out.
Glad it'll work for ya, better than me tossing it away !
Mind doing a favor? Post in this thread something like "sold!"
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...982-z-bar.html
Then I think I can claim it, and get an extra classified post... I've sold/bought a handful of parts that do not show up, because I didn't use the official classified system. I'd like to have a bit more clout on that, so that if/when I do sell something, I have a bit more backing... (aside from 10,000 posts and 5yrs of membership...)

Re: 82-83 zbar
I got my new Z-BAR from the Paddock in Knightstown, Indiana for my 83. A lot of the other little hardware stuff is still available at G.M.
