should i switch to 4.11 rear end?
I talked to a local guy who is selling a 4.11 non-posi drum brake rear end in great shape out of an 87 iroc for $250. Right now I'm running the stock rear in my 1983 Z28. It would be a big jump for me, haha!
I don't race this thing, but I only drive it here and there for fun. I have a company car for a daily driver. Is 4.11 too extreme? For those of you that use a 4.11, what do you think of it?
and if I don't do the swap myself, is the labor going to cost me an arm and a leg?

the car isn't a powerhouse, maybe 200-220hp or so. i might take it to the strip on street tires once or twice for fun. i'm just interested in improving my 0-60 time really.

Re: should i switch to 4.11 rear end?
a posi rear end of any type would help. Getting power to both wheels off the line is better than getting power to only one wheel. 250$ is kinda expensive for a non posi rear also. What kind of brakes does it have? I have 3.42's in my car and its a good balance, although my car is my only car. Most people who have strip only cars use 3.73 or 4.11. If i was you i would get a posi rear end, somewhere in the 3.42 and up range. It sounds like 4.11 would be a little overkill for what you want to do with your car, based off the i drive it every now and then and plan on taking it to the track a few times assumption im under.

if you are running the 700r4 like your info says, it has a 3.06 first gear, that combined with 4.11 rear end, you will have major traction issues.
