Im looking at buying a rear axle that is disc instead of drums. its just the housing, backing plates, caliper brackets, and calipers. I have an 85 camaro with a 10bolt and drum. is there anything special i need to do or can i sawp the axles and carrier over? thanks

Sorry, I'm not entirely sure what your intensions are, so what I have to say may be off base. The axle flange on the drum rear is different that a disc rear, so you would need to mod that flange or purchase a bolt-on type backing plate from Ed Miller to adopt rear discs. There's also the e-brake issue.Originally Posted by derockz28

I believe your talking about a rear end not the axle. And yes you will probably have to redo the proportioning valve.Originally Posted by derockz28

If 84 is correct, you'll need to swap the proportioning valve for best brake performance (the master will be fine), you'll need e-brake cables, and if the new rear is a different ratio, you'll need to swap the drive and/or driven gears to make the speedo read correctly.
There's info in the following sticky that may be helpful:

Yes, with the proper rotors. Check post #13 in the following link:Originally Posted by derockz28

Your posi should swap in with no problems.
