No ECM...How do I lock-up in overdrive then?
hey, I have unhooked all my ECM wires except the ones for the switch for the converter to lock-up. Has anyone every modded the tranny so that it will still lock-up without the computer telling it to? I know one of the wires is brake-pedal acctivated, and i have the new connectors for a single-wire connection to the tranny and the inside pressure-valve from GM. I read the article in a mag. and just wondered if anyone has ever done this on there's? I hate running at 3500 RPM going down the interstate at 75 mph! Talk about guzzling gas!

You can just wire a toggle switch in if you don't mind locking and unlocking the TCC manually, or you can get a kit from TCI that has a vaccuum switch to do it automagically.

What gears do you have to be running 3500 at 75 down the interstate? The lock-up won't help much with that. The tranny basicly needs 2 wires: A 12V source when the ignition is on and a ground hooked to a switch of some kind to control the lock-up.
I run 2650 at 75mph with 3.73 gears and 245/45R16 tires in overdrive.
In THIRD gear with your 3.08's you should be running 3100rpm at 75, probably a little lower with a the lock-up working. Is your tranny even shifting into 4th gear?
Something is not right with '3500rpm at 75 mph' with 3.08 gears and 700r4 tranny.
To reach 3500rpm at 75 with a 700r4 tranny in fourth gear you would need 5.10 gears.

O.K., I have the equipment to wire it up with the pressure switch on the valve-body. My tranny does shift into 4th but after that it doesn't do anything and continues to gain RPM. Someone may have changed my rear ratio, but I looked it up with the RPO and it said 3.08 ratio. Trust me I know about the RPMs being to much....It is more like 3500 at about 75 to 80 mph. My car does not have a secound gear in it though, but that should not make a difference in the upper gear range should it? I think I can wire it up, bu was just wondering if anyone has done it before. I am only get about 9 miles to a gallon on the interstate and my engine is reving like hell at normal interstate speed.
If you have 3.73s in your car and rpms like that Something has got to be wrong here doesn't it? I am my wits end with it....can't wait for the T-5 swap!
