I have ruined two 700r4's with my 305. It is a pretty serious motor putting out about 400 horsepower(no power adders, no race gas). I have a 400 from a 1986 suburban with the extra deep pan, short-tail output shaft and extra clutch packs. I want to put this in my car, but headman hedders says that this trans won't fit with their headers.is this true? I am hoping to have my gta aluminum driveshaft lengthened and put a 400 style yoke on the end. then i figure i will mount the torque arm under the custom crossmember that i probably have to make for this swap. the car has about 3 inches of suspension lift, so this will bring the torque arm back to where it's supposed to be.(the lift is for looks, 'cause i painted it flat black with a big cowl and it looks mean) Pleeease pleease help. tell me if this sounds as if it will work.

 

Did they say why it won't fit? Look under there and see how much room you have and measure everything out. That's the best way. Also, do you have any pics of that car? Sounds like it looks killer. I'd like to see it.
