Auto X-Ray and my ongoing transmission saga

Tonight I took the car for a ride with my auto x-ray fired up. During the ride, the TCC was always locked, except for one brief moment as I slowed down that it unlocked.

The x-ray also constantly told me that 4th gear was not engaged, even when I was in overdrive. I found this odd. Anybody care to shed some light on this?

Oh, and the trans won't shift into OD until about 47mph under VERY light throttle, and about 50mph under a little heavier throttle. It also doesn't like to kick down a gear without a lot of pedal. When accelerating under light load, it seems to shift into gear early, which is exactly what my old trans did until I replaced the TV cable, but it's the same virtually new cable on this trans now. Could this cable be shot again? I've adjusted it in every way ever described by man or other, and even taken the liberty to manually adjust it a notch or 2 in both directions, none of which seem to be fixing the problem.

If TCC was locked all of the time you would notice a distinct bog as it shifts into second as that is where the oil supply that controls L/U comes from. Also if the tranny was changed, there are @17 different wiring combinations that you could have so I wouldn't put much faith into whatever that thing is you have hooked up. Earlier 700's or even the wrong one for the car will cause all kinds of calibration issues. As for TV setting, there is ONE setting and the rest is inside.

Leo, my car is an 85 and the transmission that I put in was out of a 90. My harness plugged right into it, but you're saying that the pins may be different? If so, will repinning the harness fix the problem or is it a completely different signal sent to the trans?

The wiring inside the tranny is probably different. There are a series of switches that complete circuits and/or send info to the ECM.
