From what I understand, one of the preferred GM torque converters is the 4.3 S10 converter. Apparently it has the same K140 internals as the vette converters, but carries a different part number and is much more likely to be a new instead of REMAN unit. It's supposed to stall a couple hundred rpm higher.

I have used this exact converter and I loved it. It depends on what your stall requirements are though but, like cams, most people tend toward MORE stall than they really need, IMHO.

What is the stall of the 4.3L converter? I have one out of a 99 S-10 Blazer with very low miles that I want to try out.

It is rated at 2025 but of course that depends on the amount of torque being put through it.
