What gear is it better to drag race in D or OD?

D Just a guess but I would think it would be faster than OD.

Theoretically, if you are accelerating only, the tranny won't know the difference except that it won't go to 4th in D. The only advantage to using D is that any on and off of the gas you will engage and disengage the input sprag which is an eventual wear/failure item. The Overrun clutches will tend to keep the sprag ready to go as it will not allow the sprrag to dissengage as it it would in OD.

I have a TCI Street fighter shifter (not a rachet) and prefer to start off with the shifter in second because the 1-2 shift is firmer, then shift manually to third. Even with 3.73 gears and 27" tall tires I don't need OD at the end of the track.
