Did 700R4 come in 83 Z-28?

My friend has access to three 83 Z28's. His
question is what auto trans came in these
cars? RPO code MX0 is the option code for an
auto in 83 Z28. Is this the 700R4 ?

MX0 just means it has the provisions for an automatic trans, it was OEM equipt with an auto. Look for MD8, that is the 700-R4.

I didn't think any other auto trans. came in any of the thirdgens after '82. correct me if I'm wrong though...
I thought anything '83 or later with an auto was a 700R4

According to https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml , the A3 or TH200C was still available in '83, as was the A4 or TH700R4. That's consistent with other sources I've seen.

After that many years, the tranny may have been changed. Check the tranny to make sure.

Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. It is easy enough to find out. The 200 is a three speed and the 700 is a four speed. Just look at the shifter indicators.

According to the data in the link, the only auto available with the V8s in '83 were the overdrive (700R4)...I think

and like leo said, it's pretty easy to tell whether you've got a 3 or 4 speed auto...

Look again. It has both A3 and A4 listed.

well,

I really don't mean any offense and it's not a big deal, but I only see A4 and M5 listed for anything with a V8, In 1983. maybe I'm missing something, or we could be on a different wavelength altogether.

bygones...

You're right. I wasn't looking close enough at the engine that went with it. My bad.
