it happened before one time but it revs up to 3500 rpm's before switching gears, i just need her for another 3 months and i just put $900 into her for a rear end. the transmission fluid is overly full. any suggestions of what might be causing this problem or what I could do?

either the clutch pack and bands are bad in the transmission. or you're torque converter is bad. NOW lol might be even simple as ur detent cable is needed an adjustment. assuming its a 700r4
i dont even know, any instructions to check?

know what? do you have a 700r4 transmission? okay is this car stock and is it auto?
as far as i know it is stock and an automatic.

ok then its the 700r4. okay the detent cable is located where you're throttle body to accelerate. it will look black and will have a tab on it to adjust kinda hard to explain w/o pictures. they have info on this let me see if i can find it and then link it for you. that is the easiest and probably what needs to be done and if it don't work then i be looking for another tranny. or just keep fluids in. assuming its leaking. if not try put trans X in it. ask a local parts store they know what it is. works great on worn transmissions brb for the info to adjust it.

okay B). is a D shape cylinder press that in and hold it. D) is the cable take it off the throttle body and slide it all the way in its the green tab looking in the picture. then. release the Button on figure B. then slowly slide the cable out to connect to the throttle body make sure you have the throttle body at the positon do not move it yet. Next get in the car and step the accelerator and floor it slowly all the way to the floor hold it until it stops clicking. And you are done adjusting the detent cable.

to clarify the info on the throttle body do not move it leave it as where it is just disconnect the green tab maybe black on urs. and then when you slide it back thru the cable release the D looking button and pull it out slowly to connect where you took it off.
mine is a tpi, looks completley different frm the picture
