Pilot Bearing Install Question - Need Help!

I am currently installing a new roller pilot bearing and have a question. When pressing the bearing in place, do I press the bearing until it comes to a stop or is there a reference point? I don't want to force it in place as the forward surface (facing the crankshaft) is flat and has the bearing guide exposed.

Any suggestions are appreciated as I have never installed one of these (roller type).

Engine: uhuh
Transmission: sure does
I usually tap them in until they are flush with the end of the crank if there isn't a "step" in the crank to keep you from putting it in further.
