bye 3.70...what's next?

My 10 bolt's whine got rally bad so i took it to my friends shop today and pulled the cover. Him and his father(the boss) took a look and said the pinion bearing is shot and also the ring gear has chips on it he said it was from poor instalation by previous owner. Now I want to replace my gears along with the bearing. I was thinking 3.42 but the boss was saying that there will not be much of a difference in those and the 3.70 I already have and recommended a set of GM 3.27. What do you guys think would be best for a 5.0 TPI automatic with a mix of both highway and city use?

If you have the 10 bolt then you have 3.73 gears NOT 3.70. Dont get the 9-bolt ratios confused with the 10-bolt!!! I would use the 3.42 for a 5.0 TPI automatic with a mix of both highway and city use!!! You will see a difference between the 3.23 and the 3.42!!!
