Why doesn't my dust cover fit?
I got a replacement dust cover for the 700R4 on my 89GTA and the starter notch doesn't fit around the starter. It's like the starter is an inch to close to the flywheel? Any ideas? Did they make a special dust cover for Trans Ams with 700R4's? TIA

Any ideas why it doesn't fit. I don't see how it's possible to bolt up the starter and have it not line up by an inch? The car didn't have a dust cover on it when I bought it and I see why. I'm just stumped as to why it might be like that. I will probably just end up grinding it out but it will still bug me

Re: Why doesn't my dust cover fit?
I went through the same problem on mine. There are 2 or 3 different starters for an SBC. Like the one that i had in my car for the 700r4 will not fit the t5 belhousing I had. The nose of the srarter was to big in dia. for the manual bellhousing, so I know there are 2 at least
