My TC Clutch on its way out?

My TC Clutch on its way out?
For a while my TC was doin that engage/disengage at part throttle. Then it went away and just never engaged again. As for my gas mileage goin to H*ll it never really bothered me. Now as of a day ago it started lockin up and all is running fine. (that makes me nervous) What would be the reason for this. Is it the clutch, solenoid, or something else?
ps its a 700r4 from an 86
