1987 700R4 Check Ball Locations
1987 700R4 Check Ball Locations
I've got a bit of a dilemma.
I have a 1987 700R4 transmission with the aux valve. I've been having an issue getting it to shift from 1st to 2nd. I think it might be an issue with the checkballs on the valve body.
Does anyone know how many checkballs should be above AND below the spacer plate on the valve body?
Also, does anyone have any images that might help me make sure I have the checkballs in all of the right places?
Let me know
Thanks for the help.

Re: 1987 700R4 Check Ball Locations
in the channel plate you need four, and two in the valve body. The big one in the channel plate is commonly left out. don't install the #9 detent low ball as there is a capsule ball below the plate to take the place of the #9. The #9 is also known as location A. it is the closes ball location to b#4andc#8.... #9 in the channel plate it is the one closest to the shifter. The big one in the valve body is left out also in an aux application, so put 2 small ones in. Hope that helps. P.M. me if you want to call me about it.
