What is your goal, lower gas mileage or less acceleration in 1st and 2nd, or maybe a hotter running tranny at cruise? In other words, why take a step backwards? Not to mention CHEAP is usually another word for junk.

I swapped out my th350 for a 700r4. My cruise rpm went from 3000rpm at 60mph to 2150rpm at 60. The th350 is a strong tranny and has it's purpose, but if you drive down the highway/interstate much the overdrive is very nice.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, current red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I just put mine in 3 weeks ago and LOVE it. Obviously i misss the OD. It al depends what your going t6o do with the car. TH350 is stronger( for cheaper) but at the expensive of losing OD
