Help with clutch choice.....
The last time I bought a performance clutch was 15 years ago (Borg), and A LOT has changed, so I'm a little lost.
The old one was 10 1/2" disc. Both the pressure plate and flywheel had hot spots. The clutch friction was uniformly worn down. The fingers of the pressure plate were very worn down. The throw out bearing was shot and had some damage. The prior owner had no pedal play. I corrected it but I feel I was too late.
My problem with the clutch was it did not grab when it was warm. No oil leaks.
So what to I get. I have a ok runnin' 350. I believe the tranny is a Saginaw (sp!). I'll resurface the flywheel.
I don't mind a heavy pedal so I could live with a three finger pressure plate.
I will stay away from a centerforce pressure plate. The weights on the fingers act on the pressure plate at the wrong time, IMO.
So what is out there that works good.
Thanks!!
