Vehicle speed sensor?

I have a bad vehicle speed sensor in my 87 trans am. I have priced new ones and there is always three different listings. Does anyone know exactly where the speed sensor is located? I need to find out the part number and the location so that I can get a new one.

It's about one foot from the back of the transmission on the drivers side. It should have either a cable or a wiring harness attached to it. Probably a cable on your car.

87 Trans Am is electronically controlled so you should have a plug with two wires. Its a 2000 pulse per mile unit.
