700 r4 with 383 stroker

Hello i was just wondering if anyone has had luck or knows if a 700 r4 trans will hold the power of a 383 stroker with some mods the motor is making roughly 400 415 horse. I was wondering if the trans will hold ive heard that it is a hit or miss. If anyone can give me some help it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 700 r4 with 383 stroker

Most stock 700R-4s won't last too long, but a Stage 2 from BowTieOverdrives is capable. I bought mine used, and have since added 170,000 miles to it with no troubles, including a season in my '88 Camaro that ran low 10s at the dragsrip.

Re: 700 r4 with 383 stroker

I had a rebuild kit from probuilt that said it could take somewhere around 550 horse. I am putting out 470 right now with a 3500 converter and have had no problems.
