2.73 to 3.70

I changed my 2.73 10 bolt to a 3.70 9 bolt. I didn’t change the Speedo gears because; well I could care less about my speed. I was wondering if the speed difference would after my car adversely. Does the Speedo effect like torque converter lock up or what gear the car down shifts to or anything like that?

The only thing I believe it affects would be your odometer.

Speedo will be a little off and you will rack up miles a little faster but that is it.(for a '91 anyways}
Changed gears and never did the speedo thing
myself.

I went from 2.73->3.73 and it threw my speedo off 10mph at 40 (shows 50), 25 at 55 (80) and 35 at 70 (105).

I didn't affect my torque converter but it affected my speed limiter. 72mph was my top speed. The converter is affected by speed and rpm but with the shifting difference it doesn't cause any problems.

The speedo fix cost me $7 and less than one hour.

RICHRAD- I lost about 3mpg overall. I was getting 23mpg city and now I'm getting 20mpg. Not that much of a difference for the performance gain I got.
