383 transmission selection

I am currently building a 383 that will probably exceed 500 lbs of torque at the flywheel. Obviously my t5 is history, but im not sure if a even a t56 will be able to handle it. The highest ive seen a salvaged t56 rated for was around 400-450 lbs. Of course money is an issue for me, but id rather do it right the first time than have to go and fix my problems later. That being said, can i make a salvaged t56 work, or will i have to purchase a new transmission. If so, what transmission would you recommend? ps Yes I have read all the threads on t56 swaps, I just feel that 500+ lbs is on the cusp of a t56 threshold.

MANUAL SHIFT IS MANDATORY!!!!

Re: 383 transmission selection

six speeds inc. and rockland standard gear can make a t56 that will stand up to that 383 of yours. I had the same issue with the 383 I'm working on, but I went with a 2004r, but auto is my preference for drag racing.
