I am getting a new Camaro 84 Sport Coupe with a 305 auto which has the 700R4 in it. Buying it to replace my 85 Z28 thats trashed I have a 350 in my 85 that I am going to swap into the 84. My question is how well will the 700R4 hold up to the 350? It's not built or anything not sure of the horsepower just have exhaust headers to 3" exhaust back to duals a Edelbrock intake and a Holley 4 barrel 600CFM Street Avenger. This will be a sort of Daily driver.

 

Should not have any problems at all My Son's '92 has a 325hp L98 the 700 works fine. HOWEVER make sure the TV cable is adjusted correctly! If their is a weak spot in the 700 it is the 3-4 clutch pack.

There not a bad transmission. just make sure you give it a regular maintance like change filter and transmission oil every other engine oil change. might be a little much but i do that and works like a charm. but i am going to T-5 soon but 700r4 is good just be nice to it.

 

I have the T-5 in my 85 it held up to it really well ever since I got it the tranny was going out and I was hard on it. Finally went still driveable but when I try to spin them just gets stuck no clutch pressure or anything. And with the 300,xxx some miles on it. Fourth gear went out and so did third.

But for $200 for the whole car that's a steal it's in a 1,000 times better shape then mine is in.
