Why is my tranny shifting like this?

Ever since I purchase my 86 Trans Am a year and a half ago, my transmission has shifted nice and firm when cold( just as I like it). But when it gets up to operating temp its just too soft for me. Is it my trans fluid. I'm sure its the original fluid. Any thoughts, Thanks

Sounds like you need a tv cable adjustment. You can look at my last post "NEW GEARS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED" and transfixleo states how to adjust the cable.

Well, it seems to downshift from gear to gear just fine. Iguess I just have more power coming from the motor before it warms up. Do I need a shift kit to get this firm shifting when hot?

same thing happens with me.i just got a K&N open element and accell ignition,so now when i run cold it kinda sorta almost chirps the tires when it shifts into 2nd.hell the other morning when the roads were wet i got the *** end to swing out a bit(its an open diff).cool as hell.but then it warms up and that ballsy feeling goes away and all is normal.but im getting a shift kit put in this week so that should cure my slush box woes a bit.
