What tools do I need to swap a tranny?

Well, it looks like my TH350 went south on me. Are there certain tools I'll need to swap it in my driveway other than your regular socket sets and wrenches? What about jacks? I know I'll need another set of jackstands. Anyone know of any good articles on the web for basic transmission swapping. TIps on stuff to watch out for and make the job go smoother? I don't really have much money, so I'd rather do the swap myself, learn something, and put the money that would be spent on labor to more tools. Thanks.

nothing special but a 3' extinsion and 9/16" universal socket will make it a lot easier.

Do yourself a favor and rent a real tranny jack. It will support the tranny securely and has a tilt bed to allow you to align it more easily. It'll cost you about $20 to rent, but consider that cheap compared to an arm cast. You can even buy one from Harbor Freight for about $75 (you said you wanted more tools) that will be tons better than a floor jack for actually removing and installing the tranny.

Thanks guys. I was hasty and jumped to conclusions before looking at the problem. All it was was a vacume line that had come off and therefore, the tranny wasn't shifting. Whew. I was wondering about the transmission jack. If I do have to do the swap sometime, I'll probably just buy it if it's only about $75.
