what flexplate do i have?
i can't find the info, and i don't want to separate the motor and trans to count teeth. it's from an '89 lo3 w/700r4
for some reason i'm thinking it's a 153 tooth?
i just need the info so i can order the proper mini starter.
thanks in advance.

Re: what flexplate do i have?
Your best bet is to look at the starter anyway. Staggered bolts indicate a 168 tooth flywheel. Straight line bolts are for a 153.
I've never had a lot of luck with mini starters. Especially if you're running headers. Stock style starters are cheap and easy to replace, plus they rarely go bad. Mini starters are designed for racing, so short life and no warranty are the name of the game.

Re: what flexplate do i have?
it's a straight bolt pattern, and with my long tube headers the stock starter is a bit too close for comfort.

Re: what flexplate do i have?
Be prepared to drill and tap new holes in the mounting block of the mini starter to get it to clock right so it doesn't lay on the header tubes. That's the problem I have always had, and I was looking at them for the same reason. I didn't want to drill and tap holes in a $275 part, so I returned it and went with a stock style starter with a thermal blanket. I also moved the solenoid to the radiator support to prevent heat soak.
Another option is the LT1 starter. It's smaller, fits the 153 tooth flywheel, and is still an OEM piece that you can find at any parts store.
