Help, no shift at wot

To all you gurus out there, or anyone who has had this problem. My tranny won't shift from 1-2, or 2-3 at wot. I've had it to 7 grand several times, and still won't shift til I take my foot out of it. Any ideas??
Also, my MSD box has a 6 grand limiter in it, any ideas why I can freely rev to 7 grand??
Thanks

I don't know of any Governor combos that are supposed to allow THAT high of a shift so I suspect a calibration problem or even a wore out governor bore leaking the oil out. You could look at the governor to see if it is worn, sometimes the nails will wear into the outer weight and hang it up. If it all looks OK and the outer surface measures .800" then look at the weights. If they come to a point on the inner weight then get on from a regular V-8 and see what happens. There may be more going on that this but it is worth looking at. Another thing could be that the tranny is slipping, perhaps in the Forward clutch so it just revs rather than completing the shift regadless of gear.

Transfixleo, you lost me on that one... I do plan on having the tranny rebuilt this winter, any good recommendations on a kit?? Should I use kevlar clutches?? I need to be able to handle around 500 hp.
Thanks again
