Slipping tranny in my '87 Formula 350 (700r4)
Let me start with that I haven't noticed it yet (not on the street or at the track last friday).
I'm told that the person that owned my car before me may have had an issue with the tranny slipping when he sprayed the car. From what I understand it happened once, he changed the fluid and never happened again.
3 days before I heard that my brother was driving it and claimed that it might have slipped but wasn't sure, we weren't able to reproduce it.
The question is, will the mods that raise the line pressure (shift kit or servo) help prevent it from going out entirely (especially if Iean on it a little)? Anything else that will help besides rebuilding? Should I just let it go and not waste my money on that stuff till it goes out?
I'm going to take it to the track and beat on it either way, basically treat it like I haven't heard/worried about it. But if something that I can do without pulling the tranny and rebuilding it will extend the life more then a few passes, I might as well try it.
Hell, it may never do it again, right? ;-)
Either way I'm planning on filling it with some type-f (unless someone has a better suggestion what to use that I can get before then) before going to the track on friday and possibly a shift kit of sorts if you guys think it will help (and I could find one at a local speed shop, I doubt that I could next day something now)

I would suggest installing the TransGo Reprogramming Kit, 'Vette Servo, .500" boost valve and full synthetic Dexron oil. Will it now last forever? Of course not but either way you will need those parts, the only difference is that when it comes time for an O/H you will already have them in there.
