th400 question

Engine: 350, forged 355 in the works
Transmission: 4 speed goin to th400
Axle/Gears: stock 9bolt, 3.27
th400 question

im swaping in a th400 into me 91 rs, i need to no is there a difference in a th350 converter, i can get a tci 3000 stal for free, just wondering if i can use a th350 flex and converter for my th400

i'm pretty sure the converters are interchangeable. the flex on the current engine should work too so no need to change it.

The converter will physically slide into the TH400 just like a TH350. There is a difference between a TH350 and TH400 converter though. The mounts that attach to the flexplate are different diameters. The majority of all aftermarket flexplates come with dual bolt patterns to fit both converters. If your converter fit on your flexplate and all you're doing is changing the transmission then the TH350 converter will work fine.

You can even use that converter on a powerglide if the glide input shaft is swapped to a turbo spline shaft.

well rite now ist a 4 speed, i got a flex for 30 bucks and can have a 3000 stall 350 converter, and the bolts line up and work fine so i should b good rite? a th350 converter on a th400

My old race converter was sold as a TH400 converter. I had it on a TH400 and on a powerglide.
