b-w 9 bolt to a 10 bolt
i have a 88 gta with the 9 bolt rear end i want to put a new gear in it as well as switch the whol rear end to a 10 bolt because i hurd the 9 bolt wasnt as strong i was wondering if anyone has done it i hurd there is a company by the name of strange that make's a 10 bolt to go inplace of a 9 bolt no proulbem, dose anyone know where you can get a 10 bolt to put on my car where i wouldnt have a lot of proulbems,
has anyone taken a normal 10 bolt out of a different camaro or trans am and put it in, dose it go right in or do you have to fab. a lot of stuff
also i have dis barks should that be a proulbem. any help would be nice

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
The 9 bolt is stronger than a 10 bolt but parts are harder to find and are more expensive.
A 10 bolt can be beefed up to take a lot of abuse. I'm still running a 10 bolt in my race car.
Swapping them is easy. All third gen f-body diffs are direct swaps regardless of if they are a 10 bolt, 9 bolt or the rare Dana 44. External mounts are all the same. There are slight differences in castings, axle sizes, gear ratios, disk or drum brakes etc over the years but they'll all fit. You can even install a diff from a fourth gen but it'll be 2 inches wider on each side so proper offset rims are required.

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES, it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. I currently have 4.10 gear sets and new series 3 carriers in stock for 9 bolts
