Should I drop in the engine and transmission together?

Is it alright to hook up a T56 to my engine or will the input shaft bend when the hoist lifts the motor? The T56 is heavy but the bellhousing is very light. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I can't speak for the T56, but I usually pull engine and 700R4 together. The 700 is quite heavy; I doubt the T56 could be much heavier if at all. I use an engine tilter hooked to my chainfall. I have an extra slip yoke that I put in the tail housing to keep the trans fluid from spilling all over the place.
