Hi, I'm new to cars in general, so go easy on me.

I recently bought a 1985 camaro z28. I noticed that if I do a burnout I get the right rear wheel spinning easily but I haven't really noticed the left one spinning.

What gives? Does this mean there's something kooky going on with my rear axle? Is there anything I can check?

The previous owner was going to sell me a new rearend for the car and I didn't take it. I wonder if he knew something...

 

It's and open rear, non-posi.

 

An open diff puts power to the wheel with the least amount of traction.

Under hard acceleration, the differential wants to rotate. This torque plants the left tire and raises the right tire. This is why open diffs always spin the right tire more than the left.

Although a posi will greatly help traction, suspension can also help a little bit. Using a rear sway bar will limit how much the right side tries to lift up. Putting an air bag inside the right spring will also add pressure to keep the right side planted more but neither will have the same effect as a posi.

You need a 7.5/7.625" posi for 26 spline axles. Something like this depending what gear ratio you currently have in the diff. http://www.jegs.com/i/Eaton/362/19663-010/10002/-1
