3.42 rear in a TA?

I have an 87 TA 305 tpi, my posi unit went bad in the rear. I can get a 3.42 rear out of a V6 for a pretty good price. Will this combination work well with my car? 305 tpi, 4 spd. auto. Or would it be better to spend the extra and get a 3.23 out of a V8? What kinda of difference can I expect in performance and durability with the 3.42? Will it hold up as good as a 3.23? Thanx in advance.

you won't see a lot of differance between the two. a 3:42 will pull a little harder and you'll use a little more fuel and the engine will run at higher rpms, but no great differance. i'd go with the 3:42s.
