I'm planning on swapping a 406 Small block into my 87 IROC 350 auto sometime within the next year. What tranny/rear end combo should I go with for this motor? I'm planning on putting a built 406 in the car that's going to either run a 150 shot of NOS or eventually get an ATI procharger and run 9-12 psi of boost. The motor alone should be pushing between 400-500HP without a power adder. What would my best bet be with the tranny and rear? I have some ideas of my own but you guys always seem to have something different and alot of times better. Any and all info is appreciated..thanks

For a rear end, I dont think the 9-bolt will handle that, so you'll want a 12-bolt or a 9".

For a trans, what do you want? You can get a 700R4 to live for a while behind that, but it'd probably still die. Then you'd have to go with a TH400.
