Blown Clutch, or Cable, possibly???
Hey -
Yesterday, I was about to come up on the clutch to put my car into gear, and the car slammed into first, bogging like no other, so I ripped it outta gear (like any other time it would have bogged). When i went to drive it again, the clutch was just dangling like a broken arm. I got out of the car, and I was overwhelmed by the smell of burnt clutch. Any ideas?? I havnt had a chance to look at it yet, anything to look for??? Any guess at a price to fix, and which aftermarket clutch should I be looking for, performance or non. Thank you.

Sounds like the "slave cylinder" broke off the mount. If you look up under the car, you will see a black cylinder that should be bolted to the bellhousing of the tranny. It may be broken. It will have a hose running up to the firewall. I beleive they are relatively inexpensive.

I had a similar thing happen to me once. I went to shift to third gear when the clutch pedal just went to the floor with no pressure and just dangled there afterwards. The cause of it was that the clutch cable had laid on the header and burnt. Causing a small fire under the hood. If I remember correctly that part was about $100 and isn't that difficult to replace with some patience.
