4th gen width

I am considering swapping a 4th gen rear axle into my 92 firebird but am getting conflicting numbers on the width difference. Some say it is 1" per side, some say 2" per side, and finnaly some say 1.5" per side. Is there anyone out there who knows what the exact difference is? Thanks for you help.

The 4th gen rear axle assembly is exactly 3 inches wider, overall, from axle flange to axle flange, than a 3rd gen axle. So that comes down to making the wheels extend out 1.5 inches farther on each side. I know, I have a 4th gen rear in my GTA and I measured both axles during the swap ....
