700r4 vibration

I know its not a camaro but you guys seem to be smarter than the other boards. Here goes. 87 s-15 700r4 4x4 trans works good but has vibration when shifted into OD plus the pump bushing and converter are bad. changed the seal once hoping for the best only lasted a week and now it uses about a quart a week and looks like its on fire when i stop. My question is should I put new pump, converter, bearings?? or is it possible to use everything out of a 700r4 that came out of a wrecked 86 IROC that my dad has. He says that he's pretty sure the only real difference is govenor settings and housings. Dont want to buy junkyard trans and cant afford rebuilt. Only 16 and dont have much money. Thanks Micah

You don't necessarilly need a new pump but you do need a new bushing a probably a converter too. This is not brain surgery but it is touchy and can cost more if something goes wrong. You would be wise to go into the tranny anyhow since the low oil condition means you will likely have burned clutches/band. Is there an Auto Shop in your school that could help you? Do they even have such things anymore? I guess I am showing my age!

My dads a heavy equipment mechanic and is familar with trans work just not auto. He helped me rebuild the engine and we have everthing we need except special tools. what about the trans vibration in O/D? Bearing, bushing or something serious? Thanks, Micah
