My tranny is having some problems. First, it shifts into third pretty earlier. I can hear the engines rpm way low when it shifts into third. And sometimes the tranny will sound like it is kinda grinding or slipping when this happens. I checked my tranny fluid and it smells strong and is a dark red. And my shifts are sluggish unless I floor it then the shifts are alright. Whats the deal with this pos? Any help is appreciated
Do this first: To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the D button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.
If that doesn't seem to make a difference try one other thing. (AFTER you do the above, OK?). Just before the shift into 3rd, touch the brake just enough to light the lights but no more and see if it is different or better now. If so, Lock Up is on too soon bogging the engine down.

Alright, I adjusted the tv cable, but it wasn't off by that much. So I did what you said with pushing the brake in just a bit to see if it helped and it did. So my lock up is jacked. What is this lock up and how can I fix it?
