What do I got???

I am getting an 1990 iroc and to be honest I don't know a whole lot about them. I really enjoy my husbands so I thought what the hell I found one the I really like so I am getting it. I joined the boared to get other peoples imput also. My husband has told me a lot about them but I was wondering if anyone could just give me a little insight on what I am getting.

here are some quick details on the car:

has 305 TPI
700 R4
blue with grey interior
hard top
after marked air shocks in the rear
all options exept leather,
rear disc,
T-top, and
power mirrors

To be honest that is all I know and the only reason I know that is because Brian informed me of it but as far as anything else I am lost so any imput would be appreciated.

Wow, its one of those ultra rare hard top t-top hydrids
And what you are getting is a very nice car that I would probably be jelous of. Although it definatly needs a manual tranny

I agree right now I am driving an automatic and I miss my old manual. Maybe someday I will put a manual in it. depends on how hard it is going to be to do.

'90 IROCs are pretty rare.. only around 5000 made with the 305, and around 2400 with the 350.

One with a 5 speed though, is probably as rare as a 350 car is.

BTW - You either have T-tops, or you have a hard top. One or the other

You cannot have a hard top and t-top
You have either a Hard top (just solid roof), t-tops (2 removable glass/lexon panels), or a convertable, pick one.

OK you have made your point. I made a mistake I ment that one of the options that it did not have that I wanted was T-tops. It has the hard top. my husband laughed his a#$ off when he saw that too.

Thats one of those no no's I suggested not doing to it, :nono:

Maybe when that time comes you'd be interested in possibly trading it for an actual 5 speed car to help save a rare one from being hacked ?

To be honest I don't really think about those kind of things being that I have only really been into cars for the last 2 yrs I have known my husband. I guess it is all personal oppinion.

Nice find! I'd swap out the Air shocks for some bilsteins or Koni.

like I have mentioned I don't know a whole lot and this might be a stupid question but can you explain to me what those are and why you would switch them?

Rear shocks, I wouldn't use air shocks unless it's used as a tow vehicle. When air shocks are used in the rear you increase pressure to offset trailer weight. The IROC likely came with Bilstein in the rear which are better for ride & handling.

Thankyou for explaining. I asked Brian about it and he said that he has never had air shocks before so he really doesn't know what good they do. The car handles really nice right now so if that is the truth I can't even imagine how it will handle with different shocks. I guess maybe I could start with that. The only thing I have done as far as working on cars is changing the starter in my old Pontiac Grand Am GT and helping Brian on his camaro but I told him that I was going to be doing all the work on this car myself ( with his suppervision of course ) but I want to learn how to do stuff and not have him do it for me. Now I don't know how hard those would be to change but it is a starting point.

Shocks arn't bad, struts are a little harder, just get a big bar and lots of pb blaster for those bolts. Or air tools

Ditto. i.e. the car has a drum rear and manual mirrors.
