When my old tranny puked, my dad found a 700r4 out of a jimmy. We installed it and it runs fine. We have no idea as to how many miles it could of had. I was asking my dad if it wouldn't be a bad idea to rebuild it, but he says its like $2,500 for a rebuild. Is this true? My dad is a real good mechanic and I trust his knowledge, but that kind of a price sounds outrageous.

 

Bet. You can buy a brand new tranny that is better than the one you have there for around $1200-$1400 anywhere.
