WS6 ???
WS6 ???
I have a 87 TransAm with a 305 TPI and a 700r4. It has a 140mph speedo. There are no RPO codes anywhere in the car where they should be. How do I find out if i have the WS6 package? I have discs in front and drums in rear and 16in. crosslace wheels and a posi rear. Also, what rear end gears came stock with these?
You most likely have the WS-7 suspension. Its just as good as WS-6 but with rear drums. Im not sure if any particular gears ususally came with it, but i would guess 2.73,3.08, or 3.23(most probable if you have posi) The part about the gears is just what Ive observed in my experience with these cars. Hope this helped.
WS6 is WS6. I have RPO WS6 in my center console label, and rear drums. WS6 was never really tied to disc brakes.

My 89 Formula 5.0 TBI came with the WS6 package as well. It had a 10 bolt open rear with drum brakes too.
On the passenger side of the dash is a label that says "Performance Suspension" - does yours have that as well.
(Not to mention the center caps say "WS6 on them as well.

The performance suspension bears no indication to weather the car has the WS6 suspension. That badge is pretty much on all cars with 1 level up from the stock system (3 being WS6). The best quick method to check is the sway bars. If someone decides to slap a sticker on and have it magicly become a real WS6, the most obvious difference is the rims, and they are easy to come by. Not many people will upgrade the sway bars and even fewer will change the steering box. The size exhaust also plays a factor, it will be VERY visible from the passenger side and have a 2 3/4 intermediate pipe.. that is unless they have an aftermarket system.
