Drum Rear to Disc Rear

I want to swap in a disc rear with posi into my open drum rear in my 91 rs. Ive heard that the 10-bolt is the best rear. How do i know if the rear im looking at is the 10 bolt and how much should i expect to pay for a used one?

Also I will be putting 3.73 gears in this rear will it be necessary to get a new posi and axles? I want the rear end to be pretty much new for reliablity purposes.
Thanks
Adam

count the number of bolts on the cover, it should be 10. a 10 bolt that is already set up for disc woul dbe a good affordable way to go. i couldnt give youa price on one though.you should be able to just replace the gears as long as you get the ones for your carrier.

I bought a used 10 bolt posi disc rear for $50 at a garage sale.See 'em around all the time (used)for about 50-150.Easiest way to go, just swap out the whole rear.My car originally had non-posi 3.08,drum brakes.New rear came with 3.23,posi and discs.Ended up rebuilding it though, and putting 3.73 gears in it.
Have had some trouble with the rear disc brakes, though. They work fine, but flex lines are becoming difficult to find for the pre-88 brakes...don't know why.Ended up using braided stainless anyway. So, you're better off if you can find a 89-92 rearend,in my opinion.

Are you refering to an 81/2 10 bolt or 71/2 ?
