I got the stock 2.73 gears and wanted to put 3.55's or even 3.73's in my car......would i have to buya new carrier in order for them to be compatible? if so what is the largest i can go without a new carrier? if not let me know thank you

 

I have an auburn limited slip, it says it's good for 2.73 and up gears and I have 3.73's on it.
If you look in a catalog like summit or jegs you will find this information.

 

You can go as high as 4.10s w/ the 2.73 carrier, but the key is to find those gears specificly for two series carriers I have richmond 3.73s on my stock 2.73 posi.

Aftermarket gears can be had with the deeper gears on a 2 series carrier--Richmond for example. Keep in mind that with the deeper gears you will really wish you had a posi/locker.
